Native Council of Nova Scotia
Netukulimkewe'l Commission

The N.C.N.S. Natural Life Management Authority for the large community of Mi'kmaq/Aboriginal People residing off-reserve in Nova Scotia throughout Traditional Mi'kmaq Territory

The N.C.N.S. Ntukulimkewe'l Commission oversees and coordinates the various activities and projects referable to the off-reserve Mi'kmaq/Aboriginal Peoples in the various areas of aquatic, land-based and fowl natural life resources. The natural heritage of the First Peoples of Canada hold the "ecocentric world view" that we all must live in harmony with the earth and its resources. We encourage greater participation and access in the harvesting of natural life based on the concept of "Netukulimk" which must be adhered to in order to honour and respect the resources provided by the Creator.

The following are documents and maps outlining some of the work and features of the Commission.

  1. November 1999 Netukulimkewe'l Commission News Letter
  2. Sustenance Augmentation Management Regime (SAMR)
  3. Map Population of Aboriginals Peoples in Nova Scotia
  4. Salmon Fishing Information (open and closures)
